Extra! Extra! (10:21 PM)
I cannot believe it myself! I went to the Tourism Awards Singapore 2008! :D
Oh well, it was an eye opener for me. FIRST. On the invitation card they had this dress code: Lounge suit/cocktail dress. I went to search online to see what EXACTLY is it, it says shirt, tie and a blazer.
Yes, smart me did exactly that. But on that day, Maverick was only wearing shirt and pants, so I didn't bother to bring along my blazer. Woah, reach there, we're the rare few who did not have a proper attire. What's more, I wore WHITE shirt. Big contrast to everyone's black blazer there.
Okay. we were then directed to level 3 for our seats. I will upload the pictures over the weekend lah I guess. We missed taking photos of ourselves as we not very close to the collegues. Hai!
It started off with a dance, and this year's theme is 'galaxy'. They featured various star signs, mostly horoscope. Then... Gurmit Singh was the host! Haha, although he did a pretty good job throughout, there were some redundant quotes like 'that sounds like toilet flushing' and such.
Then they gave away awards with famous names like KF Seetoh, Mr Robert Kwan, had a tribute video of Ah Meng.. There were also random awards like Best Tourism Host - Retail. This topshop girl won. I remember prominently as Topshop being NUM's competitor. Lol.
Following all the awards was the reception and we left.
Some pointers to learn from this event:
Always have ample time to rehearse (Usher not trained)
Always test out AV equipments more than once (Ah Meng video)
Must make the best out of space (reception very cramped)
Their overall running was smooth
Their schedule was done pretty good; time was tight with inviting all the winners up together.
That'll be all! Anyway I'm doing the F1 stuff now already, shall not talk too much about it until it is executed!
